Tossa de Mar, Spain

OVERVIEW

Our most popular courses for both Drama, Art and Photography take place in Northern Spain in the stunning resort of Tossa de Mar situated on the Costa Brava coastline. We are able to provide courses exclusively in Drama, Photography or Art or indeed the increasingly popular format of a combined Drama, Photography and Art course which enables the group leader to recruit students from all three subjects in school or college. We are also more than happy to incorporate music and dance into the Drama options.

This format of courses is also available in Greece, Italy, S. Africa, USA and the UK. The students will be provided with suitably experienced professional tutors and the content of the course will be decided after discussions with William Ilkley and the group leader. Again, it is our policy with all courses to tailor - make the itinerary content to match the needs and requirements of each individual group.

The Drama students in Spain will have the opportunity to visit Barcelona and possibly Figueras, Port Lligat and Gerona. The Art students can visit the Catalonian National, Picasso and Miro museums in Barcelona and also explore the Gaudi architecture sites - the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Parc Guell, the Batlo House and the Gaudi museum. In Figueras/Port Lligat the students can visit the world renowned Dali Museum. All entry fees to the art galleries are included in the price paid by the Art students.

Music and Dance students can work separately to the Drama students or can be incorporated into the Drama workshops to accompany the performance presentation. Alternatively, indoor or outdoor concerts can be arranged for your musicians in Tossa, Barcelona, Lloret, Gerona and Figueras. Whichever course you opt for you can be sure of an extremely stimulating and rewarding visit for yourselves and your students.

Tossa de Mar is a beautiful, safe typically Spanish fishing village with a stunning bay, beach and old town quarter which dates back to the 12th Century. Our base will be a 3* Hotel all with modern facilities and ideal rehearsal areas. We will also have available the indoor theatre in nearby Lloret de Mar, although most of our groups do tend to prefer working on self-devised, outdoor, promenade style performance pieces for presentation in the old town of Tossa.

There will also be a full programme of evening activities - Karaoke, Cabaret, Flamenco and a wonderful last night party celebration. Your group will have the opportunity to explore Barcelona on a full excursion day and also have the option of a visit to Figueras and the stunning Salvador Dali Museum. TOSSA DE MAR

Tossa is situated on the coast of the Spanish Costa Brava approximately 90 minutes drive along the coast from Barcelona. Coach travelling time from Calais to this resort is approximately 16 hours. We use the Don Juan (illustrated), Park, Novopark and Continental hotels in Tossa. These hotels provide very good three star accommodation. Rooms for the students are 3 or 4 bedded and we provide twin rooms for the staff. All have private facilities. Most of our hotels have outdoor swimming pools and other sporting activities are available.

Tossa de Mar, in stark contrast to it's better known and altogether noisier neighbour, Lloret de Mar is a more typical small Spanish fishing port with a stunning bay and beach; and is certainly less commercialised than Lloret. We have an option to use the marvellous facilities of the Municipal Theatre in Lloret for some workshops and performances. Other workshops and some evening entertainments would take place in your hotel. We can offer a full day excursion to Barcelona on these courses and a half day trip to Figueras and the Salvador Dali Museum. Evening activities on this course will include a cabaret evening, karaoke evening and disco evening.

SAMPLE - ITINERARY

The workshops are split into two sections:

Section 1 consists of introductory workshops allowing the tutors to get to know the students and explore initial ideas.

Section 2 where tutors develop the chosen performance ideas and take the students through the stages of creating, devising and rehearsing, leading to a final public performance presentation.

All our coach contracts are with recognised international travel companies and we provide full executive standard coaches which are equipped with:-

• reclining seats with seatbelts
• toilet and wash room
• video or DVD, stereo and drinks dispensers
• all resorts have two drivers
• the coach is available for use whilst in resort (subject to drivers hours regulations)
